Its simple mathematics dear... some variables and some calculations...
Let the weight of chalk is x
and the weight of clay is y
Chalk is chemically calcium carbonate (M = 100)..
so 100 gm of chalk will evolve 44gm carbon dioxide on heating.
Hence x gram will evolve 44x/100 gm
Similarly, 100gm clay looses 11gm moisture..
so, y gram clay will loose 11y/100 gm moisture..
now..given that
x + y = 5
44x/100 + 11y/100 = 1.1
two liner equations in two variables.. it'd be better u do it urself now.. and tell me if u cant get the ans.
