Take alpha as A
The line intercepts the X-axis at A (pcosecA, 0) [putting y = 0]
And the Y-axis at B (0, p sec A)[putting x = 0]
Let ( h , k ) be the midpoint of A and B ?..
Hence h = pcosecA/2 , k = p secA/2
CosA= p/ 2k --------------(1)
SinA = p/ 2h---------------(2)
Squaring and adding 1 and 2 we get
P2/4h2 + p2 / 4k2 = 1
Replace h by x and k by y we get the locus as
1/x2 + 1 / y2 = 4 / p2
hope u got it.....
