Here r some words which r usually pronounced incorrectly. Just wanted to bring them to ur notice. Hope this helps u and if it does, I wont mind some liberal rates!!!!!!!!
1) Sewage: This isn't pronounced as 'see - vage'. This is actually 'syu - age'.
2) Sewer: Similarly this is not 'see - ver', its 'syu - er'. I came to know about the pronunciation of these words a week ago while browsing thru the dictionary and was shocked.
3) Education: This is wrongly and generally pronounced as 'e-ju-cation' and I don't know why. Its 'ed -yu-cation'.
4) Debris: The 's' is silent and so it's 'de - bree' not ' de - bris'.
5) Pronunciation: Tho this is not generally incorrectly pronounced as 'pro - noun - ciation', still it features in this list coz some people get confused. As the spelling goes, it's 'pro- nun-ciation'.
6) Quiet: Pronounced as 'qua - it' not ' qua - eet'
7) Quite: Pronounced as 'qua - eet' not ' qua - it' Loads make mistake in pronouncing 'Quiet' and 'Quite'. So the next time ur English teacher says 'Keep qua - eet', tell her ma'am its 'qua - it' not ' qua - eet'....he he he....
8) Résumé: Many people spell and pronounce this word incorrectly. As the spelling goes its 're-syu-may' not 're-syu-me' And it means 'A brief account of one's professional or work experience and qualifications, often submitted with an employment application'.And its different from 'resume' ofcourse
9) Haute: You must have come across this word in things related to fashion and in the popular phrase 'Haute Couture'. Did u know it is pronounced as 'oht' not 'hot'?
10) Nobel: Nobel prizes r given by Sweden but many mispronounce it as 'noble'. Please guyz its 'no-bell' as the spelling goes.
