because if we dont do any work then our body wont need any energy through food so no lunch would be needed by us. and if we indeed do some work then we feel atleast a little bit hungry and then eat lunch. but then we have worked too so its not really a free lunch. that's the actual origin of the english phrase - "There is no such thing as a free lunch."
