Direct Admission of Students Abroad (DASA) Undergraduate Entrance Exam:


Direct Admission of Students Abroad (DASA) Coordinated by NITK, Surathkal, Mangalore, offers undergraduate courses to all those candidates who are of Indian origin but lives in abroad. So they fall under DASA 2011-12 schemes. The Government of India has designated the Educational Consultants of India Limited (Ed.CIL) as the coordinating agency for carrying on the DASA Scheme. It provides the gateway to pursue engineering education in India from various premier institutes like NIT’S, IIIT’S n many more. The Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India has entrusted DASA scheme to NITK, Surathkal from academic year 2010-11 vide an official order (No F-22-12/2007-TSIII dated 04 March 2010) to coordinate the admission process to follow.

Candidates who are willing to take admission through DASA, need to take note of important detail regarding- in terms of DASA eligibility qualification requirements, fee structure, participating institutions, process etc.
Detailed instruction and DASA application guidelines for submission of form are soon to be available on website www.nitk.ac.in. However; this advance information is provided to enable potential candidates to do prior planning and preparation for themselves to meet the requirements for DASA admissions.

DASA 2011-12 will be officially launched on 1st April 2011. Application submission process, fee payment and document submission will remain online (web based).


Admission Elgibility Qualification Criteria DASA:

NRI or foreign national candidates with Indian origin seeking admission in undergraduate engineering course/programmes through DASA in India must fulfil eligibility qualification , academic education,residential eligibility, date of birth criteria as described by DASA undergraduate entrance governing body in order to successful to get enter in DASA entrance..


Birth Eligibility: Candidates who are born on or after 1 st october 1986 are eligible to seek admission.  

Residential Eligibility: candidates must be either be NRI or Foreign Nationals or Indian national stydying abroad with at least three years of education in foreign country or last six years he/she must pass the qualifying exam inclusive of 11th and 12th standard or equivalent) from abroad only. Also, you must go through academic eligibility criteria and other DASA eligibility qualification criteria described here as well.


Fee Structure in DASA Scheme:

Non refundable Direct Admission of Students Abroad (dasa) registration fees along with application form are USD 250. Candidates from SAARC countries fees are USD 400. Tution fees in DASA engineering  for first year along with application form is USD 7000* and for SAARC countries is USD 3500*.

In additional to tution fees in DASA undergraduate engineering courses, other fees like development charges, hostel & mess fees etc will be paid at time of admission in DASA where the student will be allocated seat,it’s all basis on norms which are mentioned in DASA and the respectie guidelines under which they fall.

DASA SAT Merit list :

Merit list is totally based on highest scores obtained in SAT subjects which will be communicated to the college board against each applicant’s candidature. Multiple attempts are permitted but best score only be considered for the admission through dasa scheme.



Admission in courses descibed below will be provided in Ed.CIL’s MOU institutes as per the list However, the procedure for admission in NITs will be notified separately on our website as it is under review with the Ministry of Human Resources Development (MHRD).
The courses of study here at through DASA scheme are available in:

I.)  Engineering/Architecture/Technology;
II.) Sciences

Apart from this foreign students also takes admission in following subjects...

1. Humanities/ Liberal Arts; 2. Commerce; 3. Management: BBA/BBM;
4. Computers(BCA); 5. Journalism; 6. Hotel Management;
Agriculture/Animal Husbandry; 8.Law; 9. Ayurveda etc.


DASA Affiliated Colleges in India:

Participating colleges India in DASA undergraduate course programmes are National Institutes of Technology (NITs),IIITs, NERIST , SLIET , PEC,chandigarh etc. There are 32 DASA affiliated colleges/institutes which have got confirmed affliation for DASA 2011-12. It’s expected that the total number of seat’s offered at undergraduate level is 2000. It includes all the discipline of engineering. The list will be updated as and when new institutes will become part of DASA. During the formal launch of admission process so actual seat will be uploaded on website April 01,2011.

SAT Subject Tests (also known as SAT II) - Centers and Dates:

Please refer to College Board web site (http://www.collegeboard.com/) and note the available options for SAT Subject Tests.It is recommended that candidates take SAT Subject Tests at appropriate time, such that SAT Subject Test scores reach NITK, Surathkal (directly from College Board) latest by June 29, 2011.
