Nitrogen is determined by Lassaignes test

Na + C + N ----> NaCN

Lassaignes filtrate is heated with ferrous sulphate soln and acidified with dil sulphuric acid or hydrochloric acid when green or prussian blue colour appears due to formation of ferric ferrocyanide , Fe4[Fe.(CN)6]3
