anyway about ur doubt deedee regarding whether the first ball is coming down, it was intuition. lets see...
v = u + at
v = 120 - 10(12 + 2root(31) ) i calculated t above
v = 120 - 120 - 2root31
v = -2root31.
so at the time the 2 balls meet, the velocity of the first ball is negative which means it is coming down now.
