West Bengal Joint Entrance Exam (WBJEE) Result:
The BE entrance result of WBJEE (West Bengal Joint Entrance) Examination) was declared on 14th June’11 held for admission to top level engineering colleges in West Bengal. This year, over 1, 10,000 students were appeared in
and out of which around 90, 000 candidates found their names in the WBJEE merit list of entrance. On comparison of last year’s stats, only 60,000 candidates were in the West Bengal JEE merit list.
However, the list was extended later by another 20,000 candidates. Mr. Siddhartha Dutta told about huge merit list that there was a directive from AICTE to all engineering colleges for waiving their tuition fee up to 10% of poor students. However, Jadavpur University and the Bengal Engineering and Science University are exempted from this directive. The chairman of WBJEEB told that there will be around 30, 000 seats in
engineering colleges affiliated to WBJEE
and it will be very difficult to fill all the seats of these colleges in state. There are around 10% seats in the colleges and universities such as Bengal Engineering & Science University, Jadavpur University and six government engineering colleges. The rest seats are in private institutes coming up in the last 10 to 15 years. In the eligible candidates list, there are around 28, 900 students from other states.
