Write the full equation ...then only we can determine :)

Considering ! ...

(x^2-a^2)^2 - (y^2-b^2)^2 =0

the (x^2-a^2)^2 = (y^2-b^2)^2
=> x^2 - a^2 = y^2 -b^2 or x^2 - a^2 = -y^2 +b^2
=> x^2 - y^2 = a^2 - b^2 (Represents an ellipse) or x^2 + y^2 = a^2 + b^2 (Represents a circle)

The equation was basically combined equation of ellipse and circle ..!
