Methanoic acid on Kolbe's reaction should give acetylene. Acetylene on trimerization (passing through red hot tube) forms benzene. Benzene on sulphonation gives benzene sulphonic acid which on fusion with NaOH gives phenol. Phenol on nitration wih conc. nitric acid gives 2,4,6-trinitrophenol. 1,3,5-tri nitrophenol is wrong nomenclature. |
