look here it is not necessry for the x-axis to be horizontal or any thing i just need to take any axis along the line joining the centre of mass and assume it to be x-axis or u can name it any thing u want, n-axis for instance now to find e just take the components of velocity along this direction i hope u got it. rate if useful
