First thing that I would like to say would be don't get so much stiff on Irodov Problems and second if you feel that you are weak in mechanics then you have to work on that and this should be your point of concern . NN Ghosh is a good suggestion and Try a problem from Irodov roughly first 25% problems must be within your syllabus . Let us know when you get severely stuck It may be out of your course and do NOT waste much time on problem like this let us know ASAP.
