The spring always wants to be in its natural state...
The spring will remain compressed only when u keep applying the force to compress it.....
there will be no gravitational force because you are consideringt a case with massless spring...but...there will be an internal force which is due to the stiffness of the spring...a restoring force which is kx.....so once u remove ur applied force spring moves with shm oscillations
