nopes... its an alpha-hydroxy acid...when heated i undergoes INTERmolecular esterification..... keep the same molecule in front of the originalone(just like the mirror image....OH on front of COOH and COOH in front of OH)....
and just remove H2O as in the case of esterifiacation....
i hope u got it...
loss of CO2 takes lace in case of beta-keto acids and alpha-beta unsaturated acids...
