beta hydroxy carbonyl compounds undergo dehydration on heating....
in fact dats the important product of the reaction....
u have to form double bond so as to form the conjugated system b/w double bond and O atom....
But still i have a doubt....do we use ALCOHOLIC alkali in this rxn???
