AlCl3 takes awy the Cl-.....carbocation formed at the position where Cl leaves....then hydride shift occurs......+ve charge shifts to the next carbon on the left....hydride shift occurs for two more times... then methyl shift occurs.....3 degree carbocation is formed in this way which attacks the benzene ring to form a four memebered ring
