obviously it is charge induction.
Though the body is neutral but it consists of charges like elctrons & protons. In a neutral body the charges are equal and opposite thats why total charge on the body is zero. Now when some charged body say +vely charged is brought in the vicinity of neutral body then the electrons in the neutral body redistributes themselves that is they start moving towards the face closer to the +vely charged body due to coulombic force of attraction. Thus results into the deficit of electrons on the opposite face of the neutral body and the face becomes +vely charged.
Thus due to redistribution of charges (charge induction) in the neutral body it starts attracting the charged body. Though even after redistribution also the neutral body remains to ne neutral.

The Scientist does not study nature because it is useful; he studies it because he delights in it, & he delights in it because it is beautiful. If nature were not beautiful, it would not be worth knowing, life would not be worth living. Ofcourse I do not here speak of that beauty that strikes the senses, the beauty of qualities & appearances; not that I undervalue such beauty, far from it, but it has nothing to do with science; I mean that profounder beauty which comes from the harmoniuos order of the parts, & which a pure intelligence can grasp. |
