regarding number of images?

SEE WHEN AN OBJECT IS PLACED SYMMETRICALLY AND THE VALUE 360/w IS EVEN THEN THE NO. OF IMAGES ARE 360/w - 1..LET ME EXPLAIN U WITH THE HELP OF AN EXAMPLE.. TAKE w TO BE 60. THEN 360/60 = 6..NO OF IMAGES WILL BE 5 BECAUSE WE CONSIDER ALL THE IMAGES ON A CIRCLE WITH CENTRE BEING THE POINT OF INTERSECTION OF THE MIRRORS.NOW SINCE WE GET 360/60=6 THAT MEANS THERE ARE SIX SYMMETRICAL POINTS WHERE THE IMAGE AND OBJECT IS. ONE POSITION IS OCCUPIED BY THE OBJECT THUS THE OTHER 5 PLACES WILL BE OCCUPIED BY THE IMAGES. WHERE AS IF 360/w IS ODD AND THE OBJECT IS PLACED SYMMETRICALLY THEN ALSO THE SAME POLICY IS FOLLOWED BUT IF THE OBJECT IS NOT SYMMETRICAL THEN THE NO. OF IMAGES ARE 360/w BECAUSE HERE THE CIRCLE THEOREM CANNOT BE FOLLOWED.HERE ONLY RAY DIAGRAMS CAN HELP. BY SYMMETRICAL POSITION OF THE OBJECT I MEAN THAT THE OBJECT IS ON THE ANGLE BISECTOR OF THE ANGLE B/W THE MIRRORS. IF YOU THINK YOUR DOUBT IS CLEARED THEN PLEASE RATE THIS REPLY... |
