hmm.. i guess it shud be becoz..wen taking displacement...if we do not consider a point object..we will hv different displacements for different parts of the body..and while taking the displacement..we will hv to take into account the length of the body too..like in case of a TRAIN..
the other thing is it wud be easier to work with pointed body coz force and thus acceleration acts on the centre of mass of the body..thats the only thing we consider for defing the motion of a body...
