i had no idea abt this but found this on wikipedia, when lampard gave the formula that --
 - (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pi)
thus 2/pi = 1/root 2 * root[1/2 + 1/2 root(1/2)] *...... hence pi =2 / [1/root 2 * root[1/2 + 1/2 root(1/2)] *......
