So many alternatives have already been posted, one more I am proposing. 1.Ethylene is converted to ethylene oxide by the reaction with oxygen in presence of silver catalyst or alternatively with peracids. 2.The epoxide is then reacted with methyl magnesium bromide to form an adduct which upon hydrolysis gives n-propyl alcohol. 3.The alcohol on dehydration with conc. sulphuric acid or alumina will give propene.
