g is the lowest mol wt alkane with one asymmetric carbon atom so g is 3 methyl hexane.
 
possible alkenes which can produce g on hydrogenation are(also which do not gv acetone on ozonolysis)
 
1) 3-methylhex-1-ene
 
2)3-methylhex-2-ene
 
3)2ethylpent-1-ene
 
4)3-methylhex-3-ene
 
5)4-methylhex-2-ene
 
6)4-methylhex-1-ene
 
only 3 gives ketone containing more thanfive c atoms with KMnO4
