Conservation of momentum states that the momentum of an isolated system is conserved.i.e.when on a system there is no external force applied the initial net momentum of the system is equal to the final net momentum of the system.
If for example during a collision between two objects when there is no external force applied on the system,then we can use this law......
it is used in practically all of the problems on collisions
