PERMITTIVITY OF AIR OR VACCUM

electrostatic force depends on the medium;to be more exact it depends on the permittivity of the medium

then there is relative permittivity

it is a property of a medium

it is defined as the ratio of permittivity of the medium to the permittivity of freespace--------------------->it is also known as dielectric constant of the medium and specific inductive capacity
