YES......Alkanes with an odd number of carbon atoms have a lower melting point/boiling point than the preceding alkane and the next alkane  with an odd number of carbon atoms............
 
REASON :::::: alkanes with even number of carbon atoms fit into the crystal well.... so they have relatively higher mp than the alkane with odd number of carbon atoms.........
 
here is the graph depicting the mp and bp of alkanes.....
 
since the graph has a saw toothed shape ..... this rule is also called saw tooth rule........

number in x-axis denotes no. of carbon atoms in alkane.....
