consider the column C1(with elements a1, a2, a3) in a 3x3 matrix. let the elements of C2 be b1, b2, b3. if u multiply each element of C2 with a constant(say 5) n add em to the corresponding elements of C1, the value of the determinant is not changed, i.e., if u change the elements of C1 to (a1+5*b1, a2+5*b2, a3+5*b3) the det value is unaltered. got it?
