actually this is a logically one step answer with modulos if you know it :)

$5^2 \equiv -1 \mod 13 \implies 5^{98} \equiv -1 \mod 13 \implies 5^{99} \equiv -5 \equiv 8 \mod 13$

So the remainder is 8 Mr. Green Rotfl
