Yeah , ofcourse the jobs available to a engineer and a MS student wont be the same! There will be diff jobs..

e.g. in INTEL for research in semiconductors for a Physics student, etc. If you do MS in mathematics, you can branch out into financial statistics, computing, etc. IBM has IBM labs, which is doing research in genetics. There also you have job opportunities for a bio MS student, etc etc

And other thing, today all due to software boom, everyone - be it civil,textile, or mechanical enggs join software firms like TCS, infosys, etc. That line is also always open for MS students..
