hey i am in a very similar situation as @whatever and have messed up many of my engineering exams
dropping a year looks like a favourable dicision to me i some what agree with @revathi_pearl but don't you think taking a drop may get you a deserving place in nits or other great collegs if not iit and i feel hard work and proper guidance may just fetch you a seat in iit........... after taking a drop
