INFORMATION LEAFLET
(The information in this leaflet is a brief overview of the tentative counselling
procedure and general rules. The final version will be available on the CCB website
www.ccb.nic.in from June 15, 2008. A copy of the same will also be sent by post only
to those candidates who will be declared eligible for Central Counselling by CBSE.)
I. INTRODUCTION
The Ministry of Human Resources Development (MHRD), Govt. of India, has reconstituted
the Central Counselling Board (CCB) for AIEEE-2008. The Head Quarter of the CCB has
been established at the Motilal Nehru National Institute of Technology (MNNIT), Allahabad.
Counselling will be conducted for the eligible candidates of AIEEE-2008 with co-operation
from NIC, CBSE, and participating institutes (PIs). The counselling software had been
developed jointly by NIC and MNNIT Allahabad, and has been maintained by NIC.
Counselling will be held in two phases. In Phase-I, the candidates will exercise their choices
by filling up Form 1 on-line using Internet from any place of their convenience. The
candidates may optionally fill up the Form 2 as well. The candidates will have to be present
at the specified counselling centers (Table 3) personally in Phase-II. The candidates will
have to pay the Initial fee for being considered for Phase-II. They will have the option to
change their choices till they freeze it on the specified day of counseling as per Table 1.
After that the choices will be locked for processing for allotment.
The seats available in PIs ‘offered’ through CCB will be allotted during the Phase-II
counselling through Form 1. Some of the candidates do not take admission against such
allotment resulting in ‘dropout’ seats. The ‘dropout’ and / or ‘unavailed’ seats (unallotted
seats) are allotted through Form 2. Candidates who wish to be considered for ‘dropout' /
‘unavailed’ seats will be required to fill Form 2 alone or along with Form 1. Only institutes
will be allotted against Form 2. The branches will be allotted later by the institutes, with due
consideration of AIEEE merit among the students who have joined there.
New Features
The candidates can fill up Form 2 during Phase-I counselling.
In Phase-II, for convenience of the candidates, they need not stay overnight for allotment
letter. The successful candidates will be able to download the same over the Internet from
anywhere. Candidates may, however, stay back to collect the allotment letters next day.
After the First Round of counselling, Second Round of counselling will be held for the
remaining seats. For this, the candidates will not be required to be present physically at the
counselling centers; they can fill the choices from anywhere. Only those registered
candidates who had neither been allotted seats nor withdrawn will be allowed to participate
in the Second Round.
The candidates allotted to NITs and IIITs will have the option for remote reporting for
admission at a counselling center. However, the remote reporting for each of such
candidates will be validated only after consultation with respective PIs.
In case of any dispute arising out of counselling, the decision of CCB shall be final. The
Legal jurisdiction will be limited to Allahabad courts only (Lower, District & High Court) and
will not be subject to jurisdiction of any other courts outside Allahabad.
II. COUNSELLING PROCEDURE
