wen particle undergoes normal collision the speed of particle after coll. is e times before coll. initial momentum = mv = p change in momentum after 1st impact = ep - (-p) = p ( 1 + e)
change in momentum after 2nd impact = e. (ep ) - (ep) = ep ( 1 + e )
change in momentum after 3rd impact = e^2 p .............................
so total momentum imparted
= p ( 1 + e ) ( 1 + e + e^2 + e^3.................. )
gp
= p ( 1 + e). 1 / 1 - e
= p ( 1 + e / 1 - e )
hence ans is a) rate me if i m correct
