if so then here is how it goes put x = tan y then sqrt(1 + x2) = sec y then rationalize the expresision and reduce to sin and cos u'll get sin y / ( 1 + cos y ) then use sin y = 2siny/2cosy/2 and 1 + cosy = 2cossqry/2 then cancel the terms u'll get tan inverse tan y/2 == y/2 === 1/2 tan inverse x i hope i hv made myself clear cheers
