Dear
From your question its clear that initial and final KE is zero hence net work done due to all force must be zero
so
1/2kd2 +qEd =0
d=2qE/k
Note net force at the time of maximum extension is zero hence center of mass will not move and we wrote the above equation from centre of mass frame .
