Hiiii,
Friends resonance comes into play only when the known structure of the compound fails to explain all the characteristics of the compound ( 1.e its bond length, stability, etc. ) In methane all the C-H sigma bonds are identical & the known tetrahedral structure of methane with bond angle 109 deg 28 ' explains the stability and all the characteristics of methane.
Moreover resonance appears when when there is unsaturation. Methane is a saturated alkane. So methane does not have any canonical structures.
