THE ELECTRIC FIELD ON THE SURFACE OF A UNIFORMLY CHARGED SPHERICAL SURFACE IS (SIGMA)/EPISILON. IF A SMALL WHEN HOLE IS MADE THEN THE ELECTRIC FIELD DUE TO THE SMALL HOLE IS MISSING. IF THE HOLE WERE TO BE FILLED THEN THE ELECTRIC FIELD DUE TO THE WOULD BE HOLE PORTION AND THE REMAINING SURFACE WOULD HAVE CANCELLED EACH OTHER INSIDE THE SURFACE, AS THERE SHOULD NOT BE ANY ELECTRIC FIELD INSIDE A HOLLOW CONDUCTOR. AND OUTSIDE THE RESULTANT ELECTRIC FIELD SHOULD BE THE SUM OF THE ELECTRIC FIELDS DUE TO THE WOULD BE HOLE AND THE REMAINING SURFACE. SINCE BOTH THE FIELDS ARE SAME WE GET 2E = (SIGMA / EPSILON), WHICH GIVES E = (SIGMA / 2 EPSILON)
