The energy of the system is constant during the mixing of the 2 gases.
Ti = nCvT + n'Cv'
   = (3R/2)T + (5R/2)T
Tf = ( n+n' )Cv''T
    = 2RT/gamma-1
Equating the two
3/2+5/2 = 2/gamma-1
So gamma = 3/2
