Sant Longowal Institute of Engineering & Technology (SLIET) is a Deemed-to-be-University and a national level institute established by Government of India through Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD). The university provides diploma certifications, degree courses at high levels including Ph.d levels. This is the first university that offers B. Tech degree courses to students who have done Diploma in any discipline.

The certificates and diplomas awarded by SLIET are its own and are AICTE approved and all the undergraduate and post graduate courses are affiliated to Punjab Technical University (PTU), Jalandhar.Ph.D. Programs have also been started in collaboration with PTU and some other accredited Universities. The admissions into all the Diploma,/Degree/Doctorate programs are  taken via a National Level SLIET Entrance Test (SET).

The Sant Longowal Institute of Engineering & Technology is located at Longowal in the District of Sangrur, Punjab.  One can easily commute to the location by road as the most prominent locations of Punjab are en route-Sangrur (18 Km.), Ludhiana (120 Km.), Chandigarh (150 Km.) and Delhi (360 Km.). The nearest railway station to the district are Sangrur (18 Km.), Dhuri (30 Km.) & Sunam (16 Km.) and the nearest airports are located at Chandigarh and Bathinda.
