Sastra University Points to Ponder - As a University, SASTRA has been accredited by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC), an autonomous body established by the University Grants Commission with a score of 77% equivalent to FIVE STAR status.
- The Washington Accord is an agreement that provides mobility for Indian engineering graduates around the world. There are 9 countries which are signatories to the accord and 4 other countries are provisional members. The Washington Accord team visited India in the month of January 2005 and visited 3 government institutions and SASTRA to assess the quality of engineering education in India.
- For B.Tech programmes 70% of the total seats will be filled by SASTRA based on the qualifying +2 exam marks following the process of normalization.
- To bring all candidates from different examining Authorities / Boards in the same scale of comparison and to create a list in the order of merit, the +2 marks will be normalized. A first rank student of each board is considered to have obtained 100% mark and aggregate mark of all other students of the board is normalized with reference to that of the first rank student. For example, if the first rank is 97% and an applicant's aggregate is 90% then the applicant's normalized percentage is 92.78 (90/97 x 100). A merit list is drawn based on the normalized percentage for making admissions.The remaining 30% of the seats will be filled by CBSE based on the AIEEE-ranks.

- IT major Tata Consultancy Services has signed an MoU, to facilitate higher education opportunities to all the TCS Ignite trainees. A press release said hat the agreement would allow TCS Ignite trainees who join the company after a BSc degree to gain practical experience from the industry while securing a Master's degree from a recognised university. TCS Ignite is an initiative to help science graduates transform into software professionals.
