School is surely for fun and I wouldn't be foolish enough to quit. I myself did a lot of "masti" in my class XI and then got back to serious business- IITJEE!

See, first and foremost, sit down in silence with a piece of paper. Evaluate the reality and the grounds you stand on as of today. A quick way to do it is to randomly pick up a question from any studied topic from a last year IIT question paper. Try and solve it! Whatever be the result, you will know where things are. This exercise is not to encourage you or discourage you, but to objectively and intelligently guage the temperature!

Now, pull up your socks, and pull out your books. Join a Physics and Maths classroom coaching at some reasonably good tutor nearby.

Start reading and solving from the following books:

S L Loney (Plane Trigonometry)

S L Loney (Coordinate Geometry)

Hall and Knight (Algebra)

H C Verma Vol 1 (Physics)

H C Verma Vol 2 (Physics; do it after volume 1)

R C Mukerjee (Read theory from your school/NCERT text book and solve problems from here)

Forget "masti" for a couple of months now until you are on the safe side of your preparation. Study long hours after tuitions and don't be in any hurry to go to bed. There will be countless nights to sleep once you are selected with grace!

My attitude was: I'll never give up until I understand and solve the problem. You know, most complicated questions apply very basic and simple concepts of science. Think 3-dimensionally, visualize problems and pat your back when you can solve 8 out of 10 problems!!
