The string constrani can be explained as .... as long as there is tension in the string (the string is no loose).. the velocity of the two ends of the string ALONG THE STRING will be equal in magnitude.... so to get this eqn... just get the velocities of two ends.. and equate their components along the string....
The 'Normal'constrain states that as long as there is non zero normal force acting b/w two surfaces in contact... the surfaces will remain in contact... that means two surfaces loose contact if and only if the normal force becomes zero.. this constrain also gives a velocity relation.. as long as contact is not lost along the normal... both the surfaces will move equal distance along the normal direction in any given time interval and so, THE VELOCITY COMPONENT OF TWO BODIES IN CONTACT IS EQUAL ALONG THE NORMAL DIRECTION.
got it?? ask if u don gt it....
