let us consder that the man applies a force F on the rope downwards.hence tension created in rope is F.

as man pulls rope downwards the rope exerts a force Fon man upwards (newtons 3rd law).hence the wt of man would be Mg-F.

total downward force is (Mg-F) +mg

frictional force((Mg-F) +mg)).....1

tension in string=F....2

equate 1&2
F=((Mg-F) +mg))

get F.

if u got it rate me if not plz ask.

The woods are lovely, dark and deep.
But I have promises to keep,
And miles to go before I sleep,
