catch_arnnie is correct
see gases tend to occupy much more space than liquids so volume of gas becomes volume of container irrespective of the no. of molecules
for example i take 100 molecules of a gas (assume)
now i put those 100 molecules inside a container of volume say1000m^3
now volume occupied by gas is 1000m^3
now if i take any container of any volume & put those 100 molecules inside it
& allow them to move freely within the container then the volume occupied by the gas will be same as volume of container
so to say that volume occupied by a gas is dependent on no. of molecules of a gas is a completely wrong statement.
