  • v = ds/dt
  • a =  dv/dt
  • s = vdt
  • v = adt
where v = velocity, a = acceleration.

Equations of motion of a body moving in a straight line are :

  1. v = u + at
  2. s = ut + at2/2
  3. v2 = u2 + 2as
where v = final velocity, u = initial velocity, a = acceleration, t = time, s = displacement....

If a body is thrown vertically up with velocity  u in uniform gravitational field than  (  neglecting air resistance  )

  1. Maximum height H attained = u2/2g
  2. time of ascent = time of descent = u/g
  3. total time of flight = 2u/g
  4. Velocity at the fall of projection = u downwards.
KINEMATIC GRAPH
  • Slope of displacement time graph at any particular time gives the magnitude of instantaneous velocity at that particular time
  • Slope of v-t graph (velocity - time) will give magnitude of instantaneous  acceleration.
  • The area between  the  v-t  graph  will represent the total displacement of the body
RELATIVE VELOCITY : Velocity of A relative to B is given as VAB = VA   -  VB
