hi again,
laminar: A thin plate, sheet, or layer
what we are actually trying to say that it is a body with length, breadth but negligible width or thickness.....like a sheet of paper.......
non-laminar is exactly opp to this.....it has all three dimensions; well-defined......like sphere,
the significance of this stuff comes into play in Moment of inertia calculations....we say -- find the moment of inertia of a laminar disc abt blah blah blah.......
by saying this we restrict our claculations to 2 D....we're basically neglecting the thickness of the disc.....
so the MI of a laminar disc is different from a non-laminar one......
-Hope that helps!
do rate if u r satisfied....
cheers!
