for question 1)
x12 - x9 + x4 -x + 1 >= 0     (as it is within roots)
=>  x12 + x4 + 1 >= x9 + x
now in L.H.S will always be positive whereas R.H.S can be -ve for -ve x
but we can see that L.H.S will always remain greater than R.H.S
therefore domain is R
