hi everyone, what i am gonna say here is my experience with JEE preparation, the mistakes i made (that u should avoid) and the few things i did correctly.
IIT JEE is not a tough nut to crack... it can be easily passed by imbibing the following qualities. You gotta:
1) Be CONSISTENT
I was never consistent with my work... i used to work whenever i felt like it (not too often) and always ended up slogging bfore the exam (this fetched me extended list qualification in JEE 07 - so with consistent effort, its easy to get into IIT.... im NOT a genius!)
So, the key is to put in 1 year of effort, with 3 hours minimum of JEE study DAILY.
2) PERSEVERE
Whenever working on sums, never get frustrated and give up... persevere until u get the sum, coz the time u spend in that sum, might just reveal a verrry important concept!
3) AVOID CONFUSION
never get confused as to which books to prepare from and whether to study for boards or JEE, etc.
these questions are but natural, but u have to shirk these thoughts away...
Books:
P = HC Verma 1 & 2
C = NCERT 11th & 12th + Arihant(for sums)
M = ML Khanna (subjective book, not the objective) + TMH
FIITJEE/ BRILLIANT and other materials too are very good!
When it comes to confusion between boards or JEE, do 3 hrs DAILY minimum for JEE alone, any xtra time, do boards.
i was a confused soul; u can say that i was the extreme; i had decidophobia!
4) FORM A STUDY GROUP
1 year is a long time and to be able to consistently study, you need to form a study group and motivate each other to work... this should be constructive competition.
unfortunately, i could not successfully implement a study group... so i lacked mothvation to work hard.
5) RAISE EACH OTHER's LEVELS
now, in ur study group, help each other and raise each other;s levels and clarify each other's concepts.
see, JEE is national competition.... so there is no use feeling that if u help ur friend he is goin to beat u in JEE, as if u dont help him and vice-versa, maybe both of you wont clear JEE.
But if u help each other, both may clear JEE!!!
6) AIM HIGH
people say that JEE is low scoring (this is correct) so you should not expect to score too high as in ur board exams (this is incorrect)
if you aim to score high (say 90% in JEE) and work to achieve that high goal, you may land up with 60% actually, and u clear JEE well!
on the other hand, if you aim only to score 60%, you dilute ur effort as u feel that u need to score "only" 60% in the xam... so finally u land up with 35% (this is what happened to me)
so aim high, work to reach that lofty goal (90% in JEE) and land urself in IIT by gettin 60% actually in JEE.
7) MARK ALL QUESTIONS IN IIT-JEE
okay this may seem quite opposite to the standard line of thinking...
see, there is a post in the community shelf about the "mathemetics of guessing" which xplains why u should guess, even in IIT JEE even when there is -ve marx.
so, 1st mark all that you know in the JEE paper and later blindly guess!!
HOPE U FOUND THIS MESSAGE USEFUL....
RATE my effortz pls.
