I was told by someone who did it from IIT-Kanpur that the Math part was quite abstract. If u hv a real flair for Math ( say the Olympiad variety), u wd be able to manage. He didn't like it & got stuck with it. In fact, he had already done first yr Engg ( Electronics ) in a reputed Mumbai College ( Swami Vivekaananda ) before joining this course. at IIT-Kpr. He realized he had made the wrong choice. This is not to discourage u. This is just a case in point.
