If two objects A and B are moving in a straight line with velocities V_A and V_Brespectively, the relative velocity of object A with respect to object B is given by V_AB = V_A - V_B
It follows that the relative velocity of object B with respect to A will be V_BA = V_B- V_A
If objects A and B are moving along different directions in a plane, the relative velocity of one object with respect to the other is found by using the parallelogram law of vector addition.
