Determination
DETERMINATION In 1883, a creative engineer named John Roebling was inspired by an idea to build a spectacular bridge connecting New York with the Long Island. However bridge building experts throughout the world thought that this was an impossible feat and told Roebling to forget the idea. It just could not be done. It was not practical. It had never been done before. Roebling could not ignore the vision he had in his mind of this bridge. He thought about it all the time and he knew d   more ...

"Goal-- How to achieve it" [My 1000 th one]
Which one is a goal? I will lose 15 pounds I want to run a marathon Quit smoking All of the above None of the above The correct answer is (5) - none of the above. The first three are wishes, not goals. However, you are not alone if you answered incorrectly because research has shown that less than 1% of the population actually understands how to effectively set a goal. This is why so many New Year's resolutions get broken and why so many people try keep failing at the very same goal. The desire to better ourselves is genuine, but the process we go about while seeking this desire is faulty. Here are five steps to follow when setting an effective goal: 1) Your Goal MU   more ...      [ 1 ]

Nature versus Nurture - Are CEO's developed or born?
An article from the life of a CEO- I received the question below and it got me thinking about how you can become a CEO.  Right now I am studying Business Administration at a University.  My ultimate goal to become a CEO of a large corporation.  I know I will probably have to get an MBA.  But what other things can I do to help get me there? For this writer, the first i have a question - why do you want to become the CEO of a large company?  There can be many reasons for this ranging from money, to power, to status or to actually making a difference.  I would examine these first before deciding on the goal.  For me it is about   more ...

study is not everything
Andrew, a 10 year old boy had a father rabbit and a mother rabbit. He awoke one morning to discover that he had a whole nest full of little rabbits and nothing to feed them.     What do you suppose he did? Well, he had a brilliant idea. He told half a dozen boys in the neighborhood that if they would go out every day and pull enough grass and clover to feed the rabbits, he would name the rabbits in their honor. The plan worked like magic.   He never forgot that incident. And years later, he made millions of dollars by using the same technique in buisness. He wanted to sell steel rails to the Pennsylvania Railroad. Edgar Thomson was the president of the railroad t   more ...

A nice one
One day I decided to quit... I quit my job, . my relationship, . my spirituality... . I wanted to quit my life. . I went to the woods to have one last talk with GOD.   "GOD", I said."Can you give me one good reason not to quit?" His answer surprised me... "Look around", GOD said. "Do you see the fern and the bamboo?" "Yes", I replied. "When I planted the fern and the bamboo seeds, I took very good careof them. I gave them light. I gave them water. The fern quickly grew from the earth. Its brilliant green covered the floor. Yet nothing came from the bamboo seed. But I did not quit on the bamboo. In the second year the Fer   more ...      [ 1 ]

Inspire To Achieve
Let me tell you about a little girl who was born into a very poor family in a shack in the Backwoods of Tennessee. She was the 20th of 22 children, prematurely born and frail. Her survival was doubtful. When she was four years old she had double pneumonia and scarlet fever - a deadly combination that left her with a paralyzed and useless left leg. She had to wear an iron leg brace. Yet she was fortunate in having a mother who encouraged her. Well, this mother told her little girl, who was very bright, that despite the brace and leg, she could do whatever she wanted to do with her life. She told her that all she needed to do was to have faith, persistence, courage   more ...

difficulty
Real difficulties can be overcome; it is only the imaginary ones that are unconquerable.Theodore N. Vail The individual who know the score about life sees difficulties as opportunities.Norman Vincent Peale There are two ways of meeting difficulties: you alter the difficulties, or you alter yourself to meet them.Phyllis Bottome You can't fly a kite unless you go against the wind and have a weight to keep it from turning a somersault. The same with man. No man will succeed unless he is ready to face and overcome difficulties and is prepared to assume responsibilities.William J.H. struggle is sucsess
BUTTERFLY A man found a cocoon of a butterfly. One day a small opening appeared. He sat and watched the butterfly for several hours as it struggled to force its body through that little hole. Then it seemed to stop making any progress. It appeared as if it had gotten as far as it could, and it could go no further. So the man decided to help the butterfly. He took a pair of scissors and snipped off the remaining bit of the cocoon. The butterfly then emerged easily. But it had a swollen body and small, shriveled wings. The man continued to watch the butterfly because he expected that, at any moment, the wing   more ...

Atitude
Arthur Ashe, the legendary Wimbledon player was dying of AIDS which he got due to infected blood he received during a heart surgery in 1983. From world over, he received letters from his fans, one of which conveyed: "Why does GOD have to select you for such a bad disease"? To this Arthur Ashe replied: The world over -- 50,000,000 children start playing tennis, 5,000,000 learn to play tennis, 500,000 learn professional tennis, 50,000 come to the circuit, 5000 reach the grand slam, 50 reach Wimbledon, 4 to semi final, 2 to the finals, When I was holding a cup I never asked GOD "Why me?". And today in pain I should not be asking GOD "Why me?"   So if God choos   more ...

Obstacle vs opportunity........Goutham :)
THE ROCKObstacle Vs Opportunity An Obstacle In Your Path In ancient times, a King had a boulder placed on a roadway. Then he hid himself and watched to see if anyone would remove the huge rock. Some of the king's wealthiest merchants and courtiers came by and simply walked around it. Many loudly blamed the king for not keeping the roads clear, but none did anything about getting the stone out of the way. Then a peasant came along carrying a load of vegetables. Upon approaching the boulder, the peasant laid down his burden and tried to move the stone to the side of the road. After much pushing and straining, he finally succeeded. After the peasant picked up hi   more ...
