MotivationMotivation is the key to success in school.  Although we can provide you with some helpful hints to enhance motivation, we cannot motivate students.  You are responsible for your study habits, for seeking resources and assistance, and for managing your time.  You have to want to do well enough to put forth the effort.TOPFive Major Problems for Students Who Study Not studying enough. Wasting time when studying (Have you ever read 2 or 3 pages of material only to discover that you cannot remember any of the material that you have just read?). Having trouble getting ready to study ("Before I study my laundry must be done, the bath

I am continuing with some more concepts..here is a question from HCV from friction which should clear your doubts on friction.  Three blocks placed on top of one another on a table.there is a 7kg block.on top of it there is a 3kg block on which there is a 2kg block.frictional coefficient between 2kg and 3kg is 0.2,that between 3kg and 7 kg is 0.3 and the table is smooth.find their accelerations when 10N force is applied on (a)2 kg block (b)3 kg block (c) 7 kg block.[g=10m/s2]   a)when force acts on 2kg block:for f.b.d of 2kg blockfmax= (0.2)2.10= 4N 10 - f1= 2a1a1 = 3 ms-2 for 3kg block:f1 - f2 = 3a2 ;... (1) for 7kg block:f2= 7a3;

THE NECKLACE OF DEMOCRITUSGiorgio Carboni, May 1999Tranlsation edited by Ron Wickersham, Santa Rosa, California, USA  The atomic theory of matter was first proposed by Leucippus, a Greek philosopher who lived in the 5th century before Christ. At this time the Greeks were trying to understand the way matter is made. According to Anassagora, it is possible to subdivide matter in smaller and smaller parts, and he proposed that this process can be continued with no limit. In Anassagora's view, you can always divide a bit of substance into two parts, and each of these parts is also divisible into two parts, and so on--no matter

You will by now be familiar with the structure of benzene C6H6 Discovered in 1825 by Michael Faraday (RI).Molecular formula deduced by Mitscherlich in 1834.The fragrant odour of benzene and its derivatives led them to being classed as ?aromatic?.  This classification now has a chemical meaning ? ?aromaticity? is associated with a special stability resulting from structure. Elucidation of the structure posed a problem ? the molecular formula C6H6 indicated a highly unsaturated compound (double and/or triple bonds) but benzene does not show this behaviour. Kekulé (1865) conceived a cyclic structure,but this would imply alternating single and doub

First of all, you need to know what material and at what level you need to have information on each subject. There must be some guidelines for the exam.Before you start, plan out the material to study. Perhaps even skim through each book to get an idea of what is there. Often books will have summaries at the end of each chapter. It is good to read those first, if possible.The best way to study the three subjects is to spend about 55 minutes on one subject, and then take a 5-minute break where you get up, walk around and stretch, to get your blood flowing. Then switch to the next subject. Doing that will allow you to be alert in each subject.I am sorry, but I can'

this is an xtrmly useful article i came across written  by an iitk professor ...._______________________________________What to do after getting through JEEHere I attempt to answer a few frequently asked questions by people who have passed JEE. Please note that these are purely my personal views, and based on my discussions with several of my friends and colleagues, I can confidently say that these are not even unofficial views of IITK.Official view of JEE, to put it simply, is that all IITs are equal, all programs are equal, and all students are equal.If you were to believe in the official views, you have got only two options.First, you got to delve deep into

Overview of Reducing AgentsThe following table summarizes the influence each of the reducing systems discussed above has on the different classes of carboxylic acid derivatives. Note that LAH is the strongest reducing agent listed, and it reduces all the substrates. In a similar sense, acyl chlorides are the most reactive substrate. They are reduced by all the reagents, but only a few of these provide synthetically useful transformations. FunctionReagent Aldehydes& Ketones CarboxylicAcids CarboxylicEsters AcylChlo

Sir Isaac Newton: The Universal Law of Gravitation There is a popular story that Newton was sitting under an apple tree, an apple fell on his head, and he suddenly thought of the Universal Law of Gravitation. As in all such legends, this is almost certainly not true in its details, but the story contains elements of what actually happened.What Really Happened with the Apple?Probably the more correct version of the story is that Newton, upon observing an apple fall from a tree, began to think along the following lines: The apple is accelerated, since its velocity changes from zero as it is hanging on the tree and moves toward the

Yes, you are! The IITian is there in you. Some of his abilities are already expressed in you. Youwill bring other qualities to the front through practice.As a matter of fact, any above average student who is dedicated and sincere can clear the JEE.It's not uncrackable. There is no shortage of time in the examination. Only the approach has tobe correct. Few tips are discussed in the following paragraphs. First of all, ask yourself if youare sufficiently inspired. No half-hearted attempts, please. Your desire, commitment, internalconviction and belief in your ability to succeed are the most important requirements.Also, observe your reading and learning behavior..

Black Body Radiation Michael Fowler University of Virginia Heated Bodies Radiate We shall now turn to another puzzle confronting physicists at the turn of the century -- just how heated bodies radiate. There was a general understanding of the mechanism involved -- heat was known to cause the molecules and atoms of a solid to vibrate, and it was known that the molecules and atoms were themselves complicated patterns of electrical charges. From the experiments of Hertz and others Maxwell's predictions that oscillating charges emitted electromagnetic radiation had been confirmed, at least for simple antennas. It was known from Maxwell's equations that this

Well i somehow managed to get IIT KGP this year though i really screwed up my JEE paper in a crappy way!!!!!!! Well u always do not get what u want and so u have 2 do some compromise, and that's what i  am doing , but the prime reason for that is that i am a FRESHER!!!!!! All i wanna say is that if u study with ur full dedication,without thinking about what's gonna happen when i'll be giving JEE,will i make it?if yes with what rank r all shitty things.One shouldn't think about results and do what he is bound to do!!!!!!!Just go and give ur exams as if u r giving ur practise tests(FIITJEE/BRILLIANT etc.) and DO NOT THINK THAT THIS IS JE

    Newton's First Law Newton's First Law states that an object will remain at rest or in uniform motion in a straight line unless acted upon by an external force. It may be seen as a statement about inertia, that objects will remain in their state of motion unless a force acts to change the motion. Any change in motion involves an acceleration, and then Newton's Second Law applies; in fact, the First Law is just a special case of the Second Law for which the net external force is zero. Newton's First Law contains implications about the fundamental symmetry of the universe in that a state of motion in a straight line must be just as "natu

I have forwarded this .... i thought it will be useful for u ppl...In organic chemistry, phenols, sometimes called phenolics, are a class of chemical compounds consisting of a hydroxyl group (-O H) attached to an aromatic hydrocarbon group. The simplest of the class is phenol (C6H5OH). Phenol - the simplest of the phenols. Although similar to alcohols, phenols have unique properties and are not classified as alcohols (since the hydroxyl group is not bonded to a saturated carbon atom). They have relatively higher acidities due to the aromatic ring tightly coupling with the oxygen and a relatively loose bond between the oxygen and hydrogen. The acidity of the hy

If the reverse bias is made very high, the covalentbonds near the junction break down and a largenumber of electron hole pairs are liberated. The maximum voltage that a junction diodecan bear without break is called zener voltage andthe junction diodes possessing this voltage is knownas Zener diode.53.
